Comments to District Map submitted by Michelle Johnson:

District 1: Encompasses most of North Irvine neighborhoods. Portola Springs will most likely get included into District 1 at next redistricting as the Great Park is built out adding over 5,000 housing units. District includes the areas known as Lower Peters Canyon (West Irvine, Northpark, Northpark Square, Northwood Pointe, Eastwood, Orchard Hills, Stonegate and Stonegate East). These areas are united in their shared wildfire issues, environmental hazards (AAA plant as well as potential flooding). The area that extends down towards the 5 Freeway was actually included in the original tax Assessment District for the Orchard Hills/Northpark areas. There is one neighborhood area right next to the 5 Freeway that was built out later that I included in District 3.

District 2: Great Park area, Woodbury, Cypress Village and Portola Springs. All areas are impacted by the Great Park. Portola Springs does fit within the issues listed for District 1 but due to districting limitations they could not be included.

District 3: Northwood, Walnut, El Camino Real, and Westpark II.

District 4: The largest in terms of geographic size due to open space, this area includes Turtle Rock, Quail Hill, Laguna Altura, Shady Canyon, Turtle Ridge, Los Olivos, Rancho San Joaquin, University Park and the Spectrum.

District 5: Woodbridge, Oak Creek and Westpark I.

District 6: University of California Irvine, Irvine Business Complex.
